And the winner is… Yahoo! (no Google yet)…

Getting indexed is the first step that all site must go through during its early stages, and of course my new blog site is no exception. Even though I have a decade of experiences building internet software, it appears that such experiences does not directly apply toward content publishing on internet, and that I am a newbie at this game. However, as the title of the my site suggested, my goal is to achieve Continuous Learning, and as I learn, so will you. I will start to chronicle my research and learning, as well as the results, on this site. Come and enjoy the ride!
Well - the most important search engine at this time is of course, Google. Submitting sites to Google is a relatively painless process, one just need to click on this link and enter the URL and submit, and then it’s done. However, getting indexed by Google quickly appears to be more like winning a lottery so far. I am not talking about search engine ranking, just getting indexed. So far, I have no luck yet.
The second most important search engine is probably Yahoo!. Yahoo has mutiple methods for URL submittal, some free, and some require fees. I used the free service, thinking that I will start with the free service, and if I do not get indexed, I will use the paid service to get included. Given that I have had no luck with Google so far, I was surprised that Yahoo! robot picked up my site only 2 weeks after submittal.
So - what does this mean? Perhaps Yahoo!’s robots are faster than Google’s?
Probably not, but I am definitely happy that my site has been indexed by a major search engine, and I am looking forward to the day that my site gets indexed by Google.
