Top 10 WP Plugins by John Chow
December 13th, 2006 | Blogging | SetupJohn Chow provided a list of his top 10 WP plugins - this is an excellent list of plugins for me to extend my WP installation capabilities.
This is what I envisioned WP would be; i.e. AJAX capable, drag/drop enabled of different widgets. However, plugin != widget and requires a lot more effort to configure. The sidebar widget is great for that. One problem though - it requires widget-compatible themes. My originally chosen theme (ocadia) is not widget-compatible, and I was unable to make use of the sidebar widget until I’ve switched back to kubrick. And that means I lost other customizations until I bring it back.AdSense Deluxe
I have not tried out this widget yet, but given that I plan on monetizing my blog I will try it soon.
Already know about this widget - have not enabled it yet.
Not sure how this is better than the regular feed, as I do not have a lot of traffic coming through, but this is easy install.
Cool idea - a quick test shows that it found decent posts - they are somewhat related, but yet somewhat unrelated, which can allow users finding some other interesting posts that might not be found otherwise.
This appears to be a good idea, but I believe the setup is a bit silly. Basically the script provide one function, and asks you to modify another php in order to be setup appropriately, talking about minimal value-add… but a good concept mimed from the brain of Dr. Jakob Nielsen.
This is a great idea that will allow Google to quickly figure out the site. I wanted to build a sitemap and this tool definitely helps
